Timeshares are a great way to vacation. A timeshare is simply a pre-paid vacation that you know you can enjoy year after year. The option to purchase a timeshare resale is even better because it allows you to enjoy that fabulous vacation at a significant discount. There are, however, several questions that you need to ask before signing the paperwork.
1. Resort
A timeshare resale is only as good as the resort. Make sure you like the resort before investing in a timeshare. If you can stay as a paying guest or on renting points, make sure you do. Explore the resort and make sure it has the things that you are looking for in a vacation location from the basics, like a golf course and an amazing pool, to the more adventurous options, like horseback riding and jet skiing.
2. Week
Choosing the right week is important. Not only does it need to be a convenient week for you to travel annually, but it also needs to be a week with great weather. If you are concerned about hurricanes — hurricane season is June through November — note that several islands in the Caribbean are traditionally not bothered by hurricanes. Those islands include Aruba, Bonaire, Barbados, and Curacao because they are all south of the Caribbean's hurricane belt.
3. Size and Occupancy
There is no sense in buying a timeshare resale if the unit you paid for can't accommodate your entire family. You need to know not only how big the unit is but also how many people it can comfortably sleep. Talk to your salesperson about how you can work the point system in order to afford a unit that can fit your entire family comfortably.
4. Usage
Be sure you understand your usage options. Different timeshares have different policies. Some timeshares grant you one guaranteed week and one floating week, while others have an EOY policy. EOY means that you use your week every other year, which may be frustrating to some vacationers but work out better for others.
5. View
It's your vacation. You work hard all year, so you should make sure your unit has a killer view. You want to be able to pull up a mental picture of that view whenever you are in a boring work meeting or commuting in rush hour traffic.
If you are ready to dig your toes into the sand on a regular basis, talk to a salesperson about investing in a timeshare resale like a Marriott Aruba Surf Club timeshare resale.
